Press Release – Funding research toward the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease

Abstract As Canadian Alzheimer’s Awareness Month wraps up, we shed some light on the work of Matthew Macauley, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and investigator with GlycoNet. Macauley’s research aims to clarify the role of CD33, a protein on white blood cells in the brain called microglia, which bind sugars and have important implications for Alzheimer’s disease.
